If you’re someone who’s walking on a different path than your family has set up for you or if you want to, you’re at the right place.
You want different things from what your parents want for you. Don’t you?
The problem is the unrealistic expectation of the parents that Gen Z would listen to them. The expectation is unrealistic because the world is wayyyyyy different than what it used to be when your parents were young adults.
So how do you convince your parents that they are more wrong about stuff than you are?
You don’t.
Because they are not insane. They just need RESPECT for their opinions.
So what do you do?
You tell them believable stories about what you’re going to do, you develop a proof of work, and that’s it.
It’d be cherry on the cake if you can figure out a way to persuade someone, who has gotten your parents’ respect, to admire you in front of your parents. Haha
Again the persuassion will work only if you put the work in - and not just talk about your random fantasies.
Having said that, I don’t buy that everyone should go through that pressure of proving themselves to their parents.
Especially, when you’re so early in your career. You’re confused.
So it’d be better to call it the exploration phase where you’re still experimenting with things.
But the point is, if you do something that you can be proud of. That’ll be enough for them to trust you.
I know it because I’ve experienced this.
If you have found this ‘Growth for Gen Z’ edition valuable, I encourage you to share it with your friends. So that they get to extract the value too and I can reach out to more people. Thank you!
