What is Growth?
Growth can be defined as being more capable than before.
Read that again. Because I did not speak of having things or not having them.
The Four Stages of Fast Growth:
Stage 1: Learn from every situation/experience and every person.
Let’s face it, as I have explained before, knowledge is infinite and fallible (Past knowledge can go wrong in the present situation because the present moment has never happened before)
A big question: how do you constantly learn? What are different ways of learning?
So there are 4 ways to learn:
1. Learning by questioning
2. Learning by observation
3. Learning by reading
4. Learning by doing
The Exact Process of Learning:
We are 7 billion+ evolved monkeys living on this planet called earth. Yet we’re still monkeys.
To quote angle investor, businessman, and Twitter guru, Naval Ravikant:
If one monkey can do it, every other monkey can do it too.
So a large part of learning is copying others.
However, when our teachers jokingly said, nakal mai bhe akal chahiye, they were not wrong.
It takes a sharp mind when you are applying the learned knowledge. Because the context changes, your uniqueness comes in, your situation comes in, and the present moment has never happened before.
Learning by observing and reading is purely learning by copying.
Learning by doing is part copying others and part your own unique way of doing things.
However, learning by questioning is different. To question is to doubt what have you learned. That’s the way to get true knowledge (the knowledge that can be again and again tested for any number of people)
Now to take things to next level, here is the second stage of growing fast
The second step of fast growth is to slow down.
It may sound counterintuitive since speed is what we are aiming for, but then we’re slowing down to achieve speed.
So how does that work?
You’re slowing down in your actions, in your aspirations, and your sole focus is on learning - which ties back to the first step.
It works because the more deeply you understand things/subjects the better your growth rate will be.
And to understand deeply is to understand gradually. One thing at a time. As simple as that.
Now that you’re learning constantly from everyone and everywhere, and you’re taking your time to do so, that is you are learning deeply, here comes the part where you’re actually applying what you have learned.
The third step of fast growth is to get the snowball rolling.
What you need to do is to build a system of taking the right actions. Building a system means taking a set of actions every day. They don’t even have to be the same actions every day. Just something that is moving the needle forward every day. One action leads to another. Action by action, you get the snowball rolling, that is you build momentum.
Now you’re learning constantly, consistently, deeply, and putting your learnings into practice every day, here’s the fourth step of Fast Growth:
Reflect.
As you put in the more work, sometimes, you will get success. You will fail most of the times.
Failing sucks and everybody hates it.
But the only way out is through.
So you must ask yourself after every failure:
What did I learn from it? What can I do better next time?
To summarise, growing fast is possible for everyone if they follow the principles of learning constantly and consistently, ridiculously slowing down to learn deeply, building momentum by taking the right actions every day, and reflecting on the outcomes.
